Moore County VINELink Release Coverage
North Carolina calls its VINE service NC SAVAN, short for North Carolina Statewide Automated Victim Assistance and Notification. It offers free status information and notices through the North Carolina VINELink interface. NCDAC says county jails use the system, and the state prison feed is linked to OPUS, the state correctional record system. That means a Moore County Detention Center record and an NCDAC prison record can both be present, but they remain records from separate source agencies.
VINELink is built for a specific-person check, not for a complete Moore County release list. A live result can display custody status, location, an identifier, and an event or date. What appears depends on the reporting agency and the live interface. A missing result can reflect spelling, data timing, source participation, a transfer, or record availability. It cannot safely be translated into “released.”
The official NC SAVAN overview explains the state and county sources that support the service.
The state overview is the authority for NC SAVAN scope. The live VINELink result still must be read for the named person's actual source agency and event.
- Custody event
- A change reported by one agency, such as a release or transfer.
- Source agency
- The jail or corrections system that supplied the displayed record.
- Out of custody
- A status outside that custodian, which may still require transfer and supervision checks.
- Notification
- An automated message triggered by a reported event, not a certified release document.
Search Moore County VINELink Records
Start with enough identity information to avoid joining two people who share a name. A booking or offender identifier is stronger than a name alone. The key comparison is the source or custody agency: Moore County Detention Center points to local jail custody, while NCDAC points to a state correctional record. A result from another county may describe another booking for the same person or a different person entirely.
- Open the NC VINELink interface and choose the offender or person search offered by the current screen.
- Enter the person's name. Add an offered booking or offender identifier when it is known, and check spelling before submitting.
- Compare each match by identifying details and source agency. Do not merge a Moore jail result with an NCDAC result just because the names match.
- Open the correct record. Read the current custody status or location, event type, and event or release date exactly as shown.
- Save the displayed details, then confirm the event with Moore detention, NCDAC, the court order, or the receiving agency.
A person now inside Moore County Detention Center should also appear through the jail's current-custody channels. Once the person has left, the live roster may no longer help. The jail release record or court order then provides stronger local proof. For a state prisoner, NCDAC can show incarceration, release, and supervision history. The Moore County released-inmate lookup explains those county and state paths when VINELink alone is not enough.
Note: Copy the source agency and event wording exactly, since a date without its label can be mistaken for a different custody event.
Read Moore County VINELink Release Fields
Field labels can change as the interface or agency feed changes. Read what is on the live record. Do not assume every Moore County result has the same fields. For a sentenced state inmate, a projected release may appear before an actual release. For a county jail record, the feed may show a custody change without the complete destination. The source agency determines what the event proves.
| Field | What it can show |
|---|---|
| Name and identifier | The identity key used to separate similar matches |
| Source agency | Moore detention, NCDAC, or another contributing custodian |
| Custody status | The person's reported standing with that source |
| Facility or location | The reported custodian or placement, when displayed |
| Event type | Release, transfer, projected release, or another reported change |
| Event date | The date tied to the named event, not a universal discharge date |
“Released” or “out of custody” can mean the person left the reporting agency. It does not always mean the person entered the community. A Moore detainee can transfer to NCDAC, another jail, the United States Marshals Service, or immigration custody. Follow a transfer in the receiving system. If the event is a community release from state prison, also read whether supervision continues.
Set Moore County Release Notifications
Register only from the correct person's record. A notice tied to the wrong match will not track the intended Moore County case. The live interface controls which delivery methods are available. Official material identifies automated telephone and email options, and a mobile app option may also appear. Follow the labels on screen rather than relying on an old menu description.
- Open the verified person's record and select the current registration or notification control.
- Choose an available delivery method and enter the telephone number or email destination requested by the form.
- For telephone registration, create the memorable four-digit PIN required by the service.
- When an automated call arrives, listen to the event and enter the PIN to acknowledge the notice.
- Save the alert details. Confirm the change with the reporting agency, especially when the notice could describe a transfer.
Official NC SAVAN material says telephone calls can repeat at intervals for up to 24 hours when the PIN is not entered. The PIN acknowledges receipt. It does not unlock a record or prove identity. If an incorrect registration cannot be stopped in the interface, NCDAC Victim Support Services can help route the problem.

NC SAVAN Moore Release Events
NC SAVAN is more than a generic VINELink landing page. Its state prison event vocabulary distinguishes projected release, release with supervision, and release without supervision. “Release with supervision” means the person has left confinement but remains under legal control. That can include a community supervision obligation even though the custody record no longer lists a prison placement. “Release without supervision” has a different legal meaning, but the displayed event should still be confirmed in NCDAC.
This distinction is especially useful after a Moore County detainee disappears from a current roster. The notice tells what one custodian reported. It does not by itself state the full destination. A county-jail custody change could be a community exit, an NCDAC commitment, or another transfer. Search the receiving agency before treating the notice as final proof that the person returned to Moore County.
Projected release is also not actual release. It is a future prison event estimate and can change. An actual event should be checked against the NCDAC offender record. If supervision follows, the Moore County parole and probation check explains how to read the public state status and route office questions.
Note: A VINE alert reports one event from one custodian, so always preserve the source name along with the event and date.
Confirm Moore County VINELink Releases
Use the agency named on the result. For a Moore County Detention Center event, call detention at 910-947-2980 or request the jail entry-and-release record. That record can establish the local exit better than a live roster that no longer shows the person. A Moore court order can explain bond, dismissal, judgment, or another legal basis, while the jail record supplies the custodial event.
For an NCDAC event, open the state offender record and compare the offender number, incarceration history, release entry, and supervision status. A projected date and an actual release are not the same. If VINELink reports release with supervision, the present NCDAC status can help verify continuing legal control. Agency staff may limit what they disclose beyond the public record.
Preserve a simple chain of proof when the event is unclear. Note the name and identifier, the agency shown by VINELink, the exact event label, and its date. Next, compare that data with the record owned by the named agency. For a Moore jail event, the detention record can distinguish release from transfer. For a prison event, NCDAC history can distinguish a projection from a completed release and can show whether supervision follows. A court order may explain the legal basis for a local release, but it may not record the exact time the person passed out of jail custody. Each source answers one part of the question.
VINELink does not replace the Bureau of Prisons locator for federal custody. A federal result must be checked through BOP. A transfer involving the Marshals Service or immigration custody also needs the applicable federal source. Moore County's jail, NCDAC, and federal agencies operate separate record systems. A search should follow the person from the last verified custodian to the next one.
Moore County Registry Alert Limits
The North Carolina Sex Offender and Public Protection Registry is a separate, specialized source. It offers person, address, map, and registration-number searches, plus geographic email alerts. State law requires a qualifying resident to register with the sheriff within the applicable period after release or arrival in a county. A public match can therefore show a qualifying person's registration presence after release.
The registry is not a general Moore County release search. It covers reportable offenses only and does not provide the authoritative Moore jail exit date. Public fields can include the person's name, address, physical description, picture, conviction date, registration offense, sentence, and registration status. Those fields serve a different function from VINELink custody events.
Keep the channels distinct. Use NC SAVAN for custody notices, the Moore jail record for a local exit, NCDAC for a state offender and supervision history, and the registry only when its legal scope applies. This source-by-source check prevents a registry absence from being mistaken for a release result and prevents a VINELink notice from being treated as a complete post-release record.
